The Practical Strategist
Margaret, you are here. The preparation is done — this week is about executing what you already know how to do, not learning anything new. Your data from the past few weeks tells a clear story: your best rides happen when your warm-up is unhurried, you give Copperfield time to find his rhythm before you ask for anything, and you drop that right hip before the canter depart rather than after. None of that changes at the show. The arena is different, the atmosphere is different, Copperfield's ears will be busy — but the mechanics that produced those three clean departs last week live in your body, not in your ring at home. The single biggest risk this week is arriving at the in-gate with a plan to fix something rather than a plan to ride what you've built. You have a performance gap you understand, a correction you've proven works, and a horse who tells you immediately when you've got it right. That is a strong position to be standing in. Use it.

Warm Up Like You Mean It, Then Let Go
Build your warm-up the same way you do at home: walk long and low for five minutes, establish trot rhythm before you shape anything, and don't pick up canter until Copperfield feels forward and soft in the contact. When you ask for the depart — check your right hip first. Not once. Every time. The test begins the moment you enter at A, and the judge will see what Copperfield feels. Give him something worth showing.
